Caring for animals is a family tradition handed down and improved upon from generation to generation.
Feeding our Beef
Chopping Earlage
Harvest
Chopping earlage is a family affair. It usually takes us about 2 days to harvest. We start chopping in early October most years when the corn is around 35% moisture.
Chopping earlage allows us to get in the field earlier in the season. Which is always a good thing when you are contending with mother nature and time during the harvest season.
Chopping is a fast and efficient way to make high quality feed for our animals, which turns into high quality meat for your family!
Earlage
Feeding Earlage
Kasper Beef Cattle are fed a mixture of earlage, a plant based protein supplement and an endless amount of fresh water.
Earlage is a highly digestible corn product, made up of the corn grain, cobs and husk. It is a excellent feed for ruminant animals. Earlage is easy to feed, and cattle stay on feed more consistently with earlage in the ration due to the digestible fiber present in the cob and husk and the positive effect of the cob “scratch factor” on rumination.

Baling Corn Straw
We use the whole corn plant for our beef, any part of the plant left in the field after the chopping process is dried, raked and baled for bedding purposes for the animals for the upcoming year.
Cattle Brush
Cattle Brushes were developed to increase cow health, comfort, animal welfare and overall performance. The cattle brush improves animal welfare by increasing blood circulation while keeping the cows clean, busy and happy. A cattle brush promotes cow traffic and natural behavior. The Cattle brushes we use are recycled street sweeper brushes. We have a brush in each of our pens that hold cattle.
Humane Handling
We believe all animals should be raised with care and treated with respect. Our family prioritizes providing a clean, dry and comfortable environment for each and everyone one of our animals.
